Nalani Dowling was born in Atlanta (a Georgia Peach), and raised on the beautiful island of Bermuda. Nalani graduated from Spelman College in May of 2019, and worked as an education research assistant and producer for the High Museum of Art on their 2020 exhibition, Picture the Dream: The Story of the Civil Rights Movement Through Picture Books.
Nalani’s passions stem from her love of storytelling. Through writing, filmmaking, and visual art she seeks to sow compelling narratives that spark laughter, encourage empathy, and inspire hope. Nalani is an inaugural graduate of the University of Georgia’s MFA program in Film, Television, and Digital Media.
Nalani decided to write her biography in the third person, because it would make her seem busy enough to outsource that kind of thing.
